Advanced playlists for Auto-DJ¶
Auto-DJ supports a number of different playlist types and managing them can be a daunting task, but it doesn't have too be! We'll go through the different types of playlists below, as well as an explanation for them and how they work.
Before you can start creating advanced playlists, please make sure to setup Auto-DJ first, as that would be required for any of the advanced playlists to work.
Creating playlists in CentovaCast¶
To create a playlist in CentovaCast, simply navigate to CentovaCast > Auto-DJ > Playlists > Create Playlist
You will then be presented with the playlist creation page where you can create one of four playlist types listed below.
Once created, you will also have to add your music to your newly created playlist within CentovaCast.
Playlist types¶
General Rotation¶
The default playlist for Auto-DJ is a General rotation playlist. Auto-DJ also requires your stream to have at least one General Rotation playlist enabled for it to start. Auto-DJ will play tracks from this type of playlist when there are no Scheduled, Immediate or Interval playlists set to be played.
Scheduled¶
Scheduled playlists are used to schedule a specific list of track for a set time-frame and date. This can be useful for scheduled shows or if you'd like to have a different set of tracks played on a specific day.
Interval¶
Interval playlists allow you to play an audio track after a set number of tracks or minutes. This is useful for placing advertisements on your stream as well as any station identification audio clips.
Immediate¶
Immediate playlists are tracks that are played after the end of every track. Usually only useful for song requests.
Playlist Configuration¶
Each playlist type has its own set of configuration details, which you can use to customize to your own liking. Below is a list of all the configuration settings for each playlist type, with their setting description.
General Rotation Playlist Settings¶
Configuration settings for a General Rotation playlist.
Playback Sort Order
Random (Shuffled)
-
Plays tracks at complete random. Auto-DJ will also not play the same song twice until the playlist has been fully cycled.
Sequential (In-Order)
-
Plays tracks in order as they are listed in a playlist, from top-to-bottom.
- Playback weight (1-20)
-
Weight decides if the playlist is played more frequently over another General Rotation playlist. This is only useful if you have multiple general rotation playlists and you require one to be played more than another. The higher the weight, the more the playlist will be prioritized by Auto-DJ.
For instance if you have a general rotation playlist with new releases, you would want it to be prioritized over another general rotation playlist.
